John’s Marching all over Cancer!

By 26th February 2019Article

Next month two of our colleagues will be pushing themselves to the limits in the name of charity; taking part in the Marsden March in aid of the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity.

On the 10th March 2019, John Braun and Serafina D’Alessi will set off from the Royal Marsden hospital in Chelsea, South London – along side 6,250 other walkers – and cross the 15 mile stretch to the Royal Marsden Hospital in Sutton. Along their journey they will pass Putney, Wimbledon Common, Raynes Park, Nonsuch Park, Cheam and Belmont before arriving in Sutton for a splendid Welcome reception and BBQ.

This is the 6th time John has taken part in the Marsden March and he admits it doesn’t get any easier but he can personally vouch for the importance of the charity and its impact:

“Since my treatment at the Marsden for prostate cancer back in Oct 2014 I have continued to be looked after by the marvellous hospital staff. I have been able to see for myself where the charity has made a difference to the lives of patients in the Marsden’s care. This includes the provision of funding for major infrastructure projects including the new Maggie Centre and the new Oak Cancer Centre. With the expansion of the Institute for Cancer Research (ICR) on the same site in Sutton the prospects for patients in future will greatly improve.”

We would like to wish you the best of luck, have fun and we hope you don’t get too many blisters!
