The Colombia Ventilation Symposium has finished, and was a huge success!
Presented by Professor Peter Rimensberger from Geneva, the symposium drew more than 280 delegates from all over South America.
Organised by our local distributor, Equitronic and attended by Martin Pearcy and Barbara Pilgrim from the UK, many of the meeting rooms reached capacity as the three day event progressed.
The aim of the ventilation symposium was to cover everything from basic understanding to bedside application of both Conventional and High Frequency Oscillation ventilation and included:
> Current practice and the Clinical Evidence
> Modes of ventilation
> Mechanism of lung injury
> Lung recruitment and an introduction to the Open Lung Concept
> Third party monitoring
> Ventilation in Acute Lung Injury
> Influence of pressure settings on blood gas analysis, gas exchange, and lung mechanics during Conventional and High Frequency Oscillation ventilation
> Concepts of lung volume optimisation; Concepts of protective lung ventilation
Our thanks go to everyone involved in planning and organising this symposium and for helping to make it such a success.
Below are some of the many photographs of the organisers, delegates and presentations during the three days…
